Graduates from the Bachelor's Programme in Chemical and Process Engineering are specialists in separation technologies and process development. The knowledge and skills acquired during studies are applied in water purification, metal and mineral processing, biomass, and food production. Chemical and process engineering gives tools to develop sustainable and energy-efficient solutions.
The chemical and process engineering programme offers practical laboratory exercises and industrial-scale applications that teach you about design processes and equipment using modern simulation tools. In addition, you will gain experience in managing product development, operational tasks, process safety and quality control.
The core of the studies includes common chemical industry processes, especially separation methods and process design. You will start by studying the basics of chemistry, natural sciences, and technology and basic chemical and process engineering phenomena. You will learn to understand chemical reactions, changes in the state of substances, mixing and flows, and the most common analysis and measurement methods in process development.
An increasing number of chemical and process engineering graduates are pursuing international careers due to high global demand. Experts in the field are needed to tackle challenges related to clean water and waste management. Additionally, there is growing emphasis on sustainable material use and the integration of circular economy principles across industries.

The Bachelor's Programme in Chemical and Process Engineering comprises 180 ECTS credits and leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Technology. The curriculum consists of general and major studies, minor studies, language and communication studies, as well as elective bachelor-level studies.
After completing the bachelor's degree, you can continue your studies directly in your chosen master's programme in chemical engineering at LUT. The master's studies comprise 120 ECTS credits and take about two years.
General studies
Includes courses on the basics of chemistry, natural sciences, technology, and basic chemical and process engineering.
Intermediate specialisation studies
Includes courses on chemical and process engineering in green energy production, energy storage, biomass and raw material utilisation, the recovery of metals and minerals, water purification, and food industry processes.
Minor studies
Options for minor studies include business or social sciences.
Language studies
Include any language studies offered at LUT.
Bachelor's thesis
A research project during the programme's last semester.

- When required to pay a tuition fee, you are offered an Early Bird Discount of EUR 2 000 (thus the early bird fee is EUR 10,000)
- For the first academic year, there are no scholarships available.
- LUT Scholarships / Second and third academic years
- For the second academic year, 3 000 EUR scholarships will be granted for the students completing the studies in the first academic year (min.of 60 ECTS credits)
- For the third academic year, 3 000 EUR scholarships will be granted for the students completing min. 120 ECTS credits in the first and second academic years.
- If the student continues their studies in a Master's programme after completing their Bachelor's studies at LUT University, the tuition fee for the first year of Master's studies is EUR 9 000.
- Only students who are required to pay the tuition fee can be awarded a scholarship.

LUT Scholarships
- No scholarships are granted during the application process.
- The scholarships are granted by the end of October in each academic year.
- Only students who are required to pay the tuition fee can be awarded a scholarship.
- There are two different categories of scholarships
- Category 1. Scholarship is 1/3 of the annual tuition fee and (max. of 10% of applicants)
- Category 2. Scholarship is 1000 € (max. 40 % of applicants)
- Scholarship will not continue automatically for further academic years.
- Students are ranked/evaluated again after each academic year.
