Luiss, as part of the consortium of GEM PhD School (of which it is an effective member from 2010, together with 17 European and extra-European institutions) has been recently awarded funding for the activation of 3 out of 16 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Joint Doctoral Network (MSCA-JD) PhD positions in the framework of the European program Horizon Europe.

The academic partners of the consortium include such institutions as Université libre de Bruxelles (BE), Universiteit van Amsterdam (NL), Luiss-Guido Carli (IT), University of Copenhagen (DK),Université Paris1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (FR), Babeș-Bolyai University (RO), University of Warwick (CH), Université Laval (CA), Waseda University (JP),Fundação GetulioVargas (FGV).

The action, under the name of DIAMOND, will investigate the challenges that Democratic Institutions face, the rise of Alternative MOdels and mounting Normative Dissensus (DIAMOND), with the objective of developing a pioneering research on the state of liberal democracy and the rule of law in the view of mounting dissent within and outside the European Union.
