A Double Master Programme

Lingnan University is collaborating with the ESSCA School of Management in France to offer an optional two-year, full-time double master programme. Students gain international experience by studying in Hong Kong, France, and Hungary. Successful gradates will receive a Master of Science in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour from Lingnan University, and a Master in Management Major in Entrepreneurship from the ESSCA School of Management.

Modules Required

To graduate, students must achieve a minimum of 30 credits:

1. Core courses: 6 (18 credits), including the Action Learning Projects which is a year course
2. Electives courses: 4 (12 credits)

An overview of the six required courses follows:

Management of Organisations and People

Management of Organisations and People is designed to enhance managerial and leadership skills by providing students with a solid foundation of theoretical frameworks concerning behaviour in organisations. The course also analyses the practical implications of the theoretical approaches in terms of organisational effectiveness.

Managing Ethically

Managing Ethically introduces concepts including ethics, social responsibility, moral development, and stakeholder analysis, and applies them to ethical problems at individual, firm, and societal levels.

Teams for Learning

Teams for Learning teaches students to develop their managerial capabilities. The course considers what it takes to be an effective leader and an effective team member. It also analyses the conditions which lead to the development of effective managerial capabilities.

Contemporary HRM

Contemporary HRM introduces different human resources management practices, and considers current issues in the field. The course explores human resource management practices in business organisations, such as manpower planning, recruitment and selection, training and development, and international human resource management.

Performance Management

Performance Management inspires students to appreciate the importance of effective performance management processes in successful companies, and encourages them to challenge the best practices of modern performance management systems.

Action Learning Projects

Action Learning Projects aims to enhance students’ academic learning by engaging them in activities that require them to apply the ideas they are learning to business and non-business settings.

Pre-entry Course

Applicants with no or limited background in economics, human resource management and statistics will be required to complete pre-entry courses in August prior to the start of this master programme.

Graduation Requirements

• Complete 9 courses (5 core courses and 4 elective courses) and obtain a minimum of 27 credits; and
• Obtain a “pass” in Action Learning Projects (core course); and
• Achieve a minimum CGPA of 2.67

The Master of Science in Human Resource Management & Organisational Behaviour programme offers a fast route to becoming a professional human resources management specialist. The MScHRMOB is designed to enhance competencies in managing and developing people for a wide range of supervisory, managerial, and executive positions.

The MScHRMOB provides students with the skills and competencies for careers in human resources, line management, and leadership roles in business and public service organisations. The course will also be valuable to those already working in these fields.
