Key Summary
Introduction
While most business schools in the world focus on teaching the academic discipline of finance, Luxembourg School of Business has developed the unique FIM program which answers a different need.
The Financial Industry Management (FIM) empowers participants to how the financial industry works on the inside. Participants will learn about how all segments of the financial industry (from banking to funds, insurance, regulatory, etcโฆ) work and are interconnected. The program delves into understanding the roles of all different industry actors, their business models, and their interdependency.
This program is useful for anyone trying to get a broad understanding of how the financial industry works. Whether you want to enter the industry or make a lateral move from one segment to another, FIM will equip you with a strategic understanding of how the industry works.
FIM participants come from both the private and public sectors. FIM is particularly interesting for public sector participants looking to understand how to develop the local regulatory and legal framework to spur the growth of the local financial industry in their countries.
Upon completion, participants earn the prestigious Financial Industry Certified Professional (FICP) designation, along with a certification attesting to their proficiency.
What are the tests like?
Luxembourg School of Business uses the learning management software (LMS) called Canvas also used by Penn State, Cornell, Duke and many other top universities. Tests are done through it and can come in many forms. Submissions of case studies, videos, or group submissions for joint efforts.
The program also employs various simulation service provides like Cesim. Those enable candidates to compete and get a chance to implement their strategies in real-world based simulations. These and most of other assignments are done in teams, just like in the LSBโs MBA program. Teamwork is a valuable soft skill that the FIM program is built around, just like the candidate's career in finance
How long does the program take to complete?
The program consists of 5 chapters, totalling together 12 months of workload
How do the schedule and the workload work for this program?
Financial Industry Management (FIM) classes take place Online, on Thursdays between 18:00 and 20:00 CET.
Besides that candidates can expect 2 to 4 hours of cumulative reading, assignments and teamwork per week. Exceptional candidates or those with significant experience in the finance sector can expect to be finished with the workload in less time each week.
Participation in classes is mandatory and contributes towards the ECTS progression. Should the candidate be unable to attend due to work, health or other urgent circumstances, a report has to be made to the program administration. In that case, the candidate is required to review the class recording. Class recordings will always be provided on learning management software (LMS) called Canvas.
