Introduction
This qualification broadens and expands the specialist work-related focus of the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma and encompasses the essential skills, knowledge and understanding needed to gain confidence and progression.
There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for progression within education or into employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to study in detail or work in a particular area of work. It is broadly equivalent to 1.5 GCE A-Levels and provides a programme of study manageable in a year so that learners can bank and then build on their achievement. In this way, it encourages progression for those learners who wish to undertake a one-year course of study because of individual circumstances. Some learners may wish to qualify to enter a specialist area of employment or to progress to a larger or different level 3 programme.
