The Economics programme aims to educate students about how data, statistics and mathematics can be used to understand and shape the world around us. Studying Economics is of utmost importance in a globalised world where economic considerations and analyses are crucial for informed decision-making. The program includes problem-solving and data analysis with various statistical methods and software, which today is invaluable in many different professional fields.
In addition, the programme offers different course packages such as in Financial data analytics, Data analysis of public policy and Business analytics. Students can also choose to read courses to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics. The job market for economists is diverse and exciting, and students can work in professions such as market analysts, data analysts or investigators in the banking and finance industry, public authorities and large companies both in Sweden and internationally.

Semester 5
During the semester, the students can choose one of four-course packages of 30 credits; financial data analysis, data analysis for public policy; business analytics and Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics (the course package Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics is only available with Swedish as the language of instruction and requires eligibility equivalent to Swedish 3), alternatively other subject studies or completing a semester at another university abroad.

For a Degree of Bachelor the student shall:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the main field of study, including knowledge of the disciplinary foundation of the field, knowledge of applicable methodologies in the field, specialised study in some aspect of the field as well as awareness of current research issues.
- Demonstrate the ability to search for, gather, evaluate and critically interpret the relevant information for a formulated problem and also discuss phenomena, issues and situations critically.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems autonomously and to complete tasks within predetermined time frames.
- Demonstrate the ability to present and discuss information, problems and solutions in speech and writing and in dialogue with different audiences, and
- Demonstrate the skills required to work autonomously in the main field of study.
- Demonstrate the ability to make assessments in the main field of study informed by relevant disciplinary, social and ethical issues.
- Demonstrate insight into the role of knowledge in society and the responsibility of the individual for how it is used, and
- Demonstrate the ability to identify the need for further knowledge and ongoing learning.
In the third and final year of the programme, you have the chance to tailor your education. You can choose between four course packages, allowing you to shape your career path:
- Financial Analytics
For those who want to work in banking and finance, this track equips you with skills to interpret and analyze financial data. - Business Analytics
Oriented towards those interested in learning how today’s companies work practically with large and complex data sets to make strategic decisions. - Data Analysis of Public Policy
Focuses on how economic policy reforms can be analyzed using large data sets and machine learning. This is ideal if you are interested in working as an analyst for government agencies or banks. - You can also choose a course package that grants you a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics. This includes courses in areas such as law, accounting, and finance.
