Embark on an Interdisciplinary Journey of Artistic Discovery.
Through innovative integration of media, the Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Media Arts program has been developed to equip practicing artists and designers with the competitive advantage for careers in a variety of art and design fields.
The three-year MFA in Interdisciplinary Media degree program from Lindenwood University in St. Louis, MO, is a 48-hour online terminal degree that credentials graduates to teach at the college level or work as professionals in the field. Skills in software, digital, and traditional media are in high demand. Because of the emergence of new media, as well as the blending of digital and traditional media, this degree helps prepare students from a variety of art and design backgrounds with the most up-to-date media, history, and theory coursework - and culminates in a final portfolio.
The move away from exclusive specialization within the realm of visual arts commenced more than a decade ago, and it endures as we witness the continuous fusion of new media with traditional artistic media. It integrates various media, harmonizing contemporary artistic practice with studies in art, design, and media production, encompassing both historical and theoretical facets. Through this terminal degree program, students embark on a multifaceted journey. In their first year, they immerse themselves in exploring interdisciplinary methodologies in media creation as an artistic pursuit, gaining familiarity with the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary media art.
The remainder of the program is devoted to the cultivation of their own definitive portfolio and the creation of a scholarly thesis report. This program’s distinctive attribute lies in its integration of diverse media forms, affording students a comprehensive understanding of the interplay between art and technology.
