Introduction

To fulfill the academic requirements to be certified to teach English at the secondary level (Grades 9-12), students must complete a major in English (with or without a Creative Writing Emphasis).

Students should consult with their English and Education advisors to make sure they take courses in fulfillment of their major that also satisfy the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education requirements for teacher certification.

Students will also need to take a minor in secondary education (Grades 9-12), and EDU 33400.
