Introduction
The department is home to sociology and anthropology. Sociology is the study of human beings in relationships with others. Anthropology is the holistic study of humans today and in the past, in a global, comparative, and multicultural perspective. Together, these disciplines encompass the broadest range of human activities, from comparative examination of diverse past and present cultures and societies, to the influence of society on individual behavior, to examination of the most pressing social issues of our time and what it means to be human.
The curricula within the department provide students with skills necessary to understand and conduct social research in a variety of employment settings through training in research design, methods, and data analysis. Students acquire a theoretical background that promotes self and societal awareness that are valued by a wide range of prospective employers.
