Introduction
The Faculty of Law of the Georg-August University is the oldest, biggest and most renowned law faculty in the German Bundesland Lower Saxony. Since its foundation in 1737, it has been committed to the unity and freedom of research and education. In the past years, independent reviews of academic teaching (2008) and research (2002) have confirmed its leading position in Northern Germany. The Faculty’s goal is to establish itself as a centre for excellent legal research and education in Germany.
The Faculty has distinguished itself for a long time through academic research and education in the core subjects Civil Law, Public Law, Criminal Law, as well as in fundamental courses such as Legal History, Legal Philosophy, Legal Theory and Comparative Law. On this basis, the Faculty has established innovative research projects on interdisciplinary topics and special subjects.
