Introduction

Students can achieve their goals in HSEC preparation (reading, writing, math, social studies, and science) through various methods. Instruction is either on a one-on-one basis or in small groups.

Students begin their program by completing an assessment. This assessment will allow LCCC to design an educational plan that best fits each student's needs.

LCCC uses a variety of instructional devices and programs to help students achieve their goals. These include:

small group sessions

subject assignments for follow-up homework

online programs that can be completed from home

After the student has completed assigned work and has shown improvement, they will begin the Official HSEC Practice Tests. These tests familiarize students with the proper method of filling out the bubble sheets, calculator usage and making sure they are ready for the actual HSEC test. Once the student's instructor feels he/she is ready for the HSEC test, the student will then be sent to the ACC Testing Center to register for tests.

Candidates are encouraged to enrol in the ACES program to complete their HSEC preparation. This preparation is free. Individualized instruction is provided to prepare students to complete the HSEC tests. Classes offered include reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

Students who are 16 or 17 years of age must complete age waiver requirements through ACES before taking the tests.
