Introduction
This course is foundational to the studentβs musical experience and understanding. The student will receive instruction in music fundamentals including: notation, major and minor keys, scales, intervals, chords, rhythm, ear training, figured bass, and part writing.
This course is a continuation of Music Theory I, with advanced instruction in instrumentation, chord progressions, four-part voice writing, cadences, musical forms, non-chord tones, modulation, secondary dominants, and simple musical forms.
Students are given a basic working knowledge of music fundamentals. They are taught to be aware of the place, principles, and practice of music in the church, while developing a working Biblical philosophy of church music.
