Introduction
The master's degree program in Technological Transformation Leadership is an interdisciplinary program designed to prepare engineering social and healthcare students for leadership roles in driving organizational change through technology.
The degree program aims to develop strategic leaders capable of integrating technology with organizational and business processes. Graduates will be able to lead technology initiatives, execute strategic plans, manage projects and innovations, and address ethical considerations in technology transformation, including those related to AI.
Leading roles in technology and social and healthcare
Engineering graduates from the master's degree program in Technological Transformation Leadership will be equipped for roles such as
- Chief technology officer
- Digital transformation manager
- Technology consultant.
Social and health care graduates will be equipped for roles in the field of social and health care such as
- Digital transformation manager
- Technology consultant.
Duration and the Scope of Studies Vary
For engineering students, the programme duration is 1 year and for the social and health care students 2 years. Engineering students will study a total of 60 ECTS credits worth of master-level studies and social and health care students study 90 ECTS credits.
All the students study the core competence studies (15 ECTS credits) to obtain capabilities in technological transformation leadership. After that, the students choose complementary competence studies to shape and customize their learning. The master's degree program includes a 30-ECTS thesis.
The studies contain challenging independent work, online group work and online studies to accommodate students’ professional and personal lives. The studies are rigorously intensive but manageable.
Admissions
Scholarships and Funding
In the first academic year, no one will be granted a scholarship by LAB University of Applied Sciences. The scholarship is a 50% reduction on the annual tuition fee. A student must complete 60 credits per academic year to be eligible for the scholarship. This policy will be applied until the end of the study time.
The credits must accumulate steadily over the duration of your studies:
- Bachelor's degree programs: 60 credits after the first year, 120 credits after the second year, and 180 credits after the third year.
- Master's degree programs: 20 credits after the first year, 40 credits after the second year
Curriculum
Study contents
Engineering Student:
Through the core competence courses offered in the program, the student obtains capabilities in technological transformation leadership. The core competencies are the same for every student and amount to 15 ECTS credits:
- Modern technologies and megatrends 5 ECTS
- Change management, knowledge management, and lean 5 ECTS
- Process and Project Management 5 ECTS
In addition to the core courses, engineering students will plan a personalized learning path through complementary competence studies (15 ECTS) to shape and customize their learning to better fit the set learning objectives. The complementary studies (15 ECTS) can for example focus either on transformational leadership or on data pipeline technology from IoT to AI. At the beginning of the studies a personalized learning plan, consisting of 30 ECTS credits of master’s level studies and 30 ECTS credits of final thesis work, will be completed.
Social and Health Care Student:
Through the core competence courses offered in the program, the student obtains capabilities in technological transformation leadership. The core competence courses are the same for every student and amount to 15 ECTS credits:
- Modern technologies and megatrends 5 ECTS
- Change management, knowledge management, and lean 5 ECTS
- Process and Project Management 5 ECTS
In addition, social and healthcare students have 20 ECTS credits core competence courses in the field of social and healthcare technology:
- Health and Wellbeing Emerging Technologies 5 ECTS
- Artificial intelligence in social and health care 5 ECTS
- Strategic leadership of technological transformation in social and health care 5 ECTS
- Research and Development Methods 5 ECTS
In addition, social and healthcare students will plan a personalized learning path through complementary competence studies (25 ECTS) to shape and customize learning to better fit the set learning objectives. The studies include a final thesis (30 ECTS) that deepens your knowledge related to technological leadership in your field.
Duration of the Studies
For engineering students, the duration of the program is 1 year. Teaching days for core studies are usually limited to 2 to 4 online days per month. The study days for complementary competence studies depend on the courses you choose to study. Students can also choose elective master’s level courses from other universities.
For social and healthcare students, the duration of the program is 2 years. Teaching days for core studies are usually limited to 2 to 4 online days per month. Thesis
The degree program includes a 30-ECTS thesis. The thesis project aims to broaden and deepen your professional expertise and knowledge and provide you with the expertise needed to operate in leadership and development tasks in your field. The thesis project improves your information retrieval, problem-solving, and development skills.
The thesis can be conducted as a project commissioned by an external organization, or as part of a development project. At its best, the thesis project can serve as a pathway to your future career.
