Program Outcome
Knowledge and understanding
The master's degree course in Pharmacy aims to provide a set of theoretical and practical knowledge in the biological, microbiological, chemical, biochemical, pharmaceutical, technological, pathophysiological, pharmacological, toxicological and legislative fields, which allow graduates to tackle the entire sequence of the complex multidisciplinary process that arises from structural design and continues in production and marketing up to the correct use and control not only of the drug but also of other products with therapeutic (medical devices) and health-related activities (cosmetics, food supplements, common or for special medical purposes), according to codified regulations. This result will be obtained through training activities mainly represented by teaching, including integrated courses, including theoretical lessons, laboratory exercises together with a mandatory professional internship with related practical evaluation test. The achievement of the specific training objectives of each teaching activity is verified through written and/or oral exams or other verification tests as well as during the preparation and discussion of the final test.
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The Pharmacy graduate will be able to apply the scientific knowledge acquired in the study of the mechanisms, in the dosages of drugs, in their recognition with purity tests, in the preparation of galenic medicines, in the quality control of drugs as well as being able to apply the knowledge acquired for related therapeutic uses. The Pharmacy graduate will be able to act as a connection between patient, doctor and public health structures, providing support both for the healthy person in the prevention of diseases and in the personalized accompaniment of patients, including chronic ones, for adherence to the pharmacological therapies.
Pharmacy graduates will also be able to communicate effectively with experts in specific application sectors, understanding the needs of the areas in which they will operate and suggesting effective solutions. They will also be able to operate in interdisciplinary groups, developing synergies with experts from different scientific sectors, as well as keeping up to date on developments in the world of medicines.
These skills will be obtained through various disciplines, both basic and characterizing, as well as through professional training in Pharmacy and will be verified through written and/or oral exams or other verification tests as well as during the preparation and discussion of the final test.
Autonomy of judgement
Independence of judgment is progressively developed by students also through critical involvement in lectures, practical exercises, laboratories, integrative activities and innovative teaching and is verified with the exam methodologies mentioned above within the various disciplines. It reaches its completion with the carrying out of the practical-evaluative professional internship, the related verification exam and the preparation of the degree thesis which can be, at the student's choice, of a compilation, semi-experimental or experimental type. The thesis work, under the supervision of the supervisor, is left to the candidate, promoting autonomy through the collection, selection and processing of information from different sources. In this way, the student will have the opportunity to refine their ability to critically analyze documents, data and results that will be presented during the final exam.
This autonomy of judgment will be fundamental to develop the ability of graduates to manage the dispensing of medicines and to advise patients by accompanying them on the therapeutic path, including in the use of medicines.
