The advanced master’s programme in IP & IT Law builds on the expertise of the KU Leuven Centre for IT & IP Law (CiTiP). The programme provides an excellent academic education and added value both to graduate students wishing to enhance their curriculum and to practitioners in search of top-quality, cutting-edge expertise. The teaching staff consists of internationally respected academics, experts from institutions such as the European Commission and national regulatory authorities, and leading practitioners, thus ensuring optimal knowledge and experience transfer. The contact between students and teachers is direct and easy.
The programme addresses the increasing demand for qualified legal experts in the IP, ICT and media sectors. These are rapidly evolving and highly complex sectors, influenced by a myriad of technological, economic and sociological developments where existing legal frameworks are continuously challenged and traditional legal concepts and principles are regularly being reinterpreted.
All students can follow the whole curriculum in English. Those who concentrate on the specialisation of Intellectual Property Law can follow a considerable part of the courses in Dutch and French. Courses in Dutch and French focus on national law, while the courses in English mainly focus on European and international law.
The Master of Intellectual Property & ICT Law is intended and therefore designed, as an in-person programme. This is principally justified by pedagogical and educational reasons. Moreover, on-campus attendance fosters the community of students who follow this programme.
