Key Summary
Demand for aviation engineers and aircraft maintenance technicians is growing not only in Lithuania but worldwide. Students can therefore expect to receive many job offers before graduating. The Aviation Engineering programme provides students with the knowledge and skills to design, investigate, and improve aircraft and their systems, and to identify problems relating to functionality and reliability. Graduates can pursue careers in aircraft design and manufacturing companies or choose to undertake postgraduate studies.
The KTU Aviation Engineering study programme curriculum covers both aircraft design and maintenance, and combines theoretical knowledge with practical engineering experience, equipping students with competencies in:
- problem-solving in engineering, project management, and adaptability in multidisciplinary environments;
- fundamentals of aerodynamics, mathematics, physics, IT, and materials science;
- 3D modelling (SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor), CAE simulation, and similar.
Students carry out internships to gain aviation engineering experience while working on real projects and hands-on training with licensed aviation professionals. In the third year, students choose to specialise in Aircraft Design or the Technology of Aircraft’s Technical Maintenance.
The programme develops expertise in the design, development, and maintenance of aircraft, systems and components, preparing graduates for careers such as:
- Aircraft and Systems Designer
- Aeronautical Engineering Technologist
- Hybrid Electric Aircraft Designer
