Introduction

For several years, there has been a steady increase in demand for educated specialists in the field of security, order, civil defense and responding to all kinds of threats and crisis situations. The increasing demand for this type of professionals is the result of an increase in the number of potential threats originating in terrorist incidents, in the activation of various groups and environments dangerous to public order and order (extramural movements, sects), in the rapid technological progress, which creates the potential risk of various failures and catastrophes technical and more and more frequent threats from the natural environment resulting not only from meteorological reasons. The above premises resulted in the creation of a new field of study in Poland, NATIONAL SECURITY.

WSHE is one of the first universities in eastern Poland to start education in this field. In recent years, we have managed to create a professional team of lecturers consisting of academic teachers from AON and UMCS as well as practitioners - employees of uniformed services, legal advisers and judges. The education program in the field of National Security has been developed and is implemented in cooperation with representatives of the socio-economic environment of the region. In 2015, the field of study was positively assessed by the quality of education by the Polish Accreditation Committee.
