Istanbul Medipol University aims to cultivate highly qualified individuals dedicated to scientific and technological advancement, with a strong commitment to addressing societal needs. Through its distinctive educational approach, the university contributes both to academic knowledge and the broader welfare of society.

Founded on 7 July 2009 by the Turkey Education, Health and Research Foundation, Istanbul Medipol University (IMU) has rapidly evolved into a leading private foundation university based in Istanbul, Türkiye. Committed to being a cradle of applied wisdom, IMU’s mission is to ensure that students do not just acquire knowledge but learn to apply true wisdom in decision-making, paving their way toward purposeful and informed futures.

IMU operates across three urban campuses—Kavacık North, Kavacık South, and Haliç (Golden Horn)—as well as the Medipol Mega University Hospital in Bağcılar for clinical training. These campuses host 12 faculties, 5 graduate institutes, and 4 vocational schools, offering a total of 74 undergraduate programmes, including 24 in English, and serving more than 49,700 students supported by 2,538 academic staff.

Clinical Excellence & Research Infrastructure

Central to IMU’s identity is its Medipol Mega University Hospital—an 810‑bed Academic Medical Center accredited by Joint Commission International and equipped with the latest technology, including robotic surgery, High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, and a heliport. The university supports over 17 research centers, numerous advanced labs, and ambitions for a 5,000 m² Regenerative & Restorative Medicine Research Center medipol.edu.tr.

Campus Network & Facilities

Kavacık Campuses (Anatolian Side — near Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge)

  • North Campus: Hosts administrative offices, Language School, vocational schools, sports center, restaurants and cafés, dormitories, library, study halls, labs, medical center, counseling services, and REMER Research Center.
  • South Campus: Contains 12 faculties (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering, Law, Communication, Fine Arts, Health Sciences, Social Sciences), vocational and graduate schools, along with facilities including libraries, conference halls, cultural venues, shopping center, hair salon, cafés, dormitories, research centers, and extensive laboratories.

Medipol Mega University Hospital (Bağcılar)

  • A sprawling medical complex comprising four specialized hospitals (General, Oncology, Cardiovascular Surgery, Dental) with around 810 beds, over 200 intensive care units, 246 outpatient rooms, and 25 operating theaters, equipped with a heliport.
  • Accredited as an Academic Medical Center by JCI and has earned HIMSS Level‑6 certification; it is the primary site for clinical training and internships for health science students.

Research & Academic Support

  • Advanced Laboratories & Research Centers: Kavacık campus features molecular biology, cell culture, genomics, proteomics, biomechanics, electrophysiology, dental simulation, nutrition labs, microscopy, and laboratory animal units.
