Introduction

Covid-19
ISEG Lisbon is taking all measures with the health and safety of our community as a top priority. Since March we're operating 100% online, engaging virtually and using online tools for learning and evaluation.

The Ph.D. Economic and Social History was established by the Technical University of Lisbon in 1991 and adapted to the European Higher Education Area in 2009. This 3rd cycle course aims to provide high-quality academic training in economic history and produce original research in this field.

The course aims to prepare professionals with a high capacity of interpretation and response to economic and social changes in the long run and to the interaction between chronological, geographical and social aspects of those changes.

The research undertaken in ISEG’s research centers – namely GHES – Social and Economic History Research Centre – provides important support for students in this program. This center and the other research centers in ISEG, which have been also evaluated as very good or excellent, are the host centers for the Ph.D. Economic and Social History students.
