Introduction

Politécnico de Leiria is the first Polytechnic Institute in Portugal to be awarded the EUR-ACE® label at the bachelor level in Civil Engineering recognized by ENAEE (European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education). The accreditation is also passed on to the Master in Civil Engineering, recognizing quality in Civil Engineering programs at the School of Technology and Management of Leiria’s Polytechnic. The distinction reinforces the quality of education in this particular field of study placing these programs among the best European universities and polytechnics.

Goals

To give a specialization of a professional nature, allowing a sequence of studies to the holders of the degree in civil engineering, and similar areas, enabling the improvement of the knowledge acquired that ends in developments/original applications originated by the completion of a project/training. The graduate students of the study cycle should be able to:

  1. Apply the knowledge and the capabilities to understand and solve problems in new and non-familiar situations, in a broad and multidisciplinary context;
  2. Combine knowledge, to deal with complex problems, develop solutions, and make judgments in situations of limited or incomplete information;
  3. To communicate the conclusions, knowledge, and foundations related, to specialists and non-specialists, in a direct and non-ambiguous way;
  4. To develop a life-learning process in an autonomous mode.
