Key Summary
About: This M.Sc. Specialized Orthodontics targets specialist orthodontists or dentists with equivalent qualifications. It covers advanced orthodontic techniques and interdisciplinary orthognathic therapy with maxillofacial surgery, including aligners, lingual techniques and multi-bracket systems. The blended-learning 90-ECTS programme combines e-learning, clinical courses, module exams, a supervised master's thesis and a final oral exam across a 3-semester part-time schedule.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue roles as specialist-orthodontist, orthognathic-team member, clinical-lead in hospital or private practice, or academic-researcher and dental-educator. Skills support work in interdisciplinary treatment planning, evidence-based research, clinical teaching, digital orthodontic workflows and dental technology development. You'll gain leadership and management skills.
This postgraduate Master's programme is aimed at specialist orthodontists or dentists with equivalent qualifications and imparts specialist knowledge beyond the level of a specialist dentist. The focus is on interdisciplinary orthognathic therapy in close cooperation with maxillofacial surgery. In addition to classic and modern orthodontic techniques (e.g. aligners, lingual techniques, multi-bracket systems), the programme focuses on interdisciplinary interfaces and practical training. The 90-ECTS programme expands the curriculum with in-depth scientific training (‘Scientific Working and Empirical Research’).
The International Medical College® (IMC) at the Dresden University of Technology performs postgraduate international Master's courses using a blended learning concept; theoretical contents (basic- and specialization modules) are conveyed through our e-learning platform e-med via the internet, together with practical clinical courses, advanced training, online lectures, and online seminars in our own virtual conference system.
Each basic- and specialization module concludes with an exam. In addition, the students have to write a master thesis and to pass the final oral exam.
While writing the master's thesis you will be supported by a learning-Management-Platform with a master's thesis Tutoring-System.
