About: The Foundation in Fashion programme at IED Barcelona nurtures your personal style and tracks progress. Taught by lecturers from IED Barcelona degree courses, semester one covers dress codes, trends, fashion language, history and photography; semester two focuses on technical skills for collection and garment development. It ends with a personal portfolio for applications.
Career Outcomes: On completion you get an IED Barcelona Foundation Certificate. You can progress to undergraduate programmes or pursue roles such as junior designer, stylist assistant, fashion photographer assistant, pattern maker, textile researcher; it also aids applications for internships and apprenticeships in fashion houses and studios.
Respect for your own distinct personality and style, with individual progress monitoring to encourage your evolution as an artist are the hallmarks of this course. What’s more you’ll be learning from a team of professionals that includes lecturers from the official degree courses at IED Barcelona, one of the most prestigious international fashion schools in the world.
During the first semester you’ll acquire the necessary grounding and know-how in terms of dress codes, trends, languages, history and fashion photography. In the second semester you’ll acquire the specific technical skills you need to create a collection.
The dynamic, open and multidisciplinary learning experience culminates with the creation of your own personal portfolio you can use when applying for a university degree course.
Classroom teaching is supported by comprehensive study materials and resources developed by IED Barcelona.
To teach students the basic fashion and management skills necessary to successfully apply to either a Fashion Design or Fashion Marketing & Communication university program.
