Do you dream of an international career? The International Business programme at HZ University of Applied Sciences prepares you for a successful future. During this programme, you develop into a business expert with an eye for global challenges and opportunities. You will gain international experience, build a valuable network and spend 2 to 3 semesters abroad for your internship or minor.
International Business prepares you for challenging management positions at companies anywhere in the world. You become equipped to do business with business partners from different cultural backgrounds. As a graduate you will be a multifunctional professional with a set of interdisciplinary skills and a solid knowledge base, allowing you to perform as an intermediary across and within various business domains. You will be confident in expressing yourself fluently in two, three, or even four of the most commonly used business languages worldwide.
Your step towards an international career
The International Business programme is varied and optimally prepares you for a management position in global companies. From day one, you will acquire a solid foundation in business administration with subjects such as:

Congratulations, you graduated! From now on you may use the title ‘Bachelor of Business Administration.
Did you participate in the Honors Program? You will receive an extra certificate with your bachelor's degree.

Year 1
In the first year, you lay a solid foundation for your future in international business. You immediately apply your knowledge in challenging business cases for real clients. This year you work on themes such as:
- Internationalisation
Learn how to grow a business internationally and put innovative sectors from Zeeland on the world map. - Language skills
Choose an additional language: Dutch, German, French or Spanish. - Strategy Development: Discover how to determine the best strategy to enter a new market.
- Supply Chain Management: Analyse and improve the supply chain of a small, international company.
- Corporate Social Responsibility
Help entrepreneurs from developing countries comply with European regulations. - Human Resources
Identify strengths and weaknesses in HR processes at growing companies. - Exporting
Learn how an existing company can successfully launch a product or service abroad.
Year 2
In the second year, you will deepen your understanding of the world of international business and work on real projects.

Your own company
During the second study year of International Business, you set up your own student company, together with some of your fellow students. Together, you brainstorm about the product or service you will bring to the market. You write a business plan and, of course, you should not forget about the financial picture and marketing.
Year 3
The third year of study is dominated by your minor and work placement abroad.
Minor
You take a minor abroad, where you immerse yourself in a field that interests you while discovering a new culture. You will take your chosen additional language into account.
Internship
You will do an internship abroad and gain valuable work experience in an international environment. You take your chosen additional language into account.
Year 4
In the fourth and final year of the International Business programme, you focus on two main components. In the first semester at HZ, you prepare for your graduation project in the second semester. Here you will learn everything you need to conduct a successful research project. In the second semester, you apply your knowledge in practice: you do an internship at a company of your choice, in the Netherlands or abroad.
Master a new language: choose Dutch, German, French or Spanish
In the first year of the programme, you choose an additional language, which you learn over the course of four years. The languages you can choose from are Dutch, German, French and Spanish. You take this language into account when selecting your minor and internship

Program Tuition Fee
Scholarships and Funding
Scholarships and financial aid options are offered to support our students:
- NL Scholarship – A €5,000 scholarship for non-EEA students enrolling in a full-time bachelor's program. Applications close on 1 May.
- Rotary Scholarship – A €2,000 scholarship for international students in Water Management, Civil Engineering, or River Delta Development, aimed at those committed to solving water-related challenges. Applications close on 1 May.
- HZ Grant – Financial aid for current HZ students doing studies or unpaid internships outside the EU.
- Financial Aid for EU Students – Some EU students may be eligible for Dutch student finance, which includes loans, grants, and a student travel card. Eligibility depends on working hours and residency status in the Netherlands.
Additionally, part-time job opportunities are available to help manage living expenses. These funding options ensure students have financial support to focus on their studies and personal development.
