Introduction

Our accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program is organized in a 2+4-year format. This means you can earn a BS in Health Sciences and a PharmD in just six years, saving time and money. In your first two years in Health Sciences, you’ll build a foundation with emphasis on biology, chemistry and math. In the professional phase, you’ll take a wide variety of pharmaceutical, socio-behavioral and clinical practice courses during the first three years. Your final professional year is dedicated to advanced clinical practice rotations. At the successful completion of the professional phase, you’ll graduate with your bachelor and doctoral degrees, and you’ll be eligible to sit for the North American Pharmacy Licensure Exam (NAPLEX).

Pharmacists are increasingly becoming vital members of the healthcare team. They recommend, manage and improve patient compliance with medication for acute and chronic disease states. They provide advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle, conduct health and wellness screenings and offer immunizations. They also educate other health professionals about the impact of medications on an individual’s physical and cognitive function – and contribute to the improved health, wellness, and safety of the patients they serve.
