Key Summary
About: The A.S. in Computer Science at Hudson County Community College prepares students to transfer to four-year colleges for a BS or BA in computer science, mathematics, or related fields. The curriculum teaches programming (application and system levels), computer hardware organization, microprocessor and microcomputer design, and core mathematics, with BS and BA tracks.
Career Outcomes: Graduates usually transfer to bachelor's degrees; with further study or entry-level roles they can enter software development, systems analysis, web development, database administration, IT support, networking, or computer hardware roles. The qualification supports continued study and technical careers in software, embedded systems, or IT services.
The graduates of the Associate in Science degree in Computer Science are prepared for transfer to four-year institutions to complete bachelor's degrees in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related fields. The curriculum provides instruction in computer programming on the application and system levels, an understanding of computer hardware organization and architectures, and a working knowledge of microcomputer and microprocessor design. Students may choose from two tracks, one leading to a Bachelor of Science degree and the other leading to a Bachelor of Arts degree. The latter requires fewer advanced mathematics and physics courses. A.S. Computer Science curriculum for transfer to Bachelor of Science.
