Introduction
The Division of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Post-Master's certificate. Since its founding in 1969, the Howard University Division of Nursing has been at the forefront of providing advanced, focused training for its nursing students. Through clinical fieldwork, research, and classroom instruction, students work to address diverse and challenging healthcare needs in hospitals, clinics, long-term care facilities, and community settings. Graduates of our Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing, and Post-Master’s degree programs are strong leaders in healthcare who excel in a variety of specialties.
The diversity of the Washington, D.C. community provides students with a variety of learning opportunities and challenges. The Division of Nursing has adopted the issues of homelessness and care of the elderly as emphases within the undergraduate and graduate curricula as well as rallying points for community service by faculty, students and staff. The Division of Nursing has also expanded in the realm of international nursing by partnering with clinics and institutions in Haiti, South Africa, and Cuba.
