Our Concept

"International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region (BMS)"

  • is a 4-year International Management degree course, which focuses on the Baltic Sea Region (Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Norway, Russia, Sweden)
  • is taught in English; in addition, you’ll learn a 2nd foreign language of one of the Baltic Sea Region's countries (Norwegian, Polish, Russian or Swedish)
  • is highly practice-oriented due to 13-week pre-study practical before you join, guest lectures, working on real projects, organization of special events, national and international excursions, one semester abroad is mandatory (either as study or internship semester), an obligatory 20-week internship and finally a dissertation on international topics

The initial 4 semesters of our programme introduce students to general business administration (such as cost accounting, economics, mathematics and law) and focusses on international management theory, cross-cultural management, corporate finance and the history and development of the Baltic Sea Region.

In the 5th and 6th semesters, students have to choose 2 of 4 Majors, in order to deepen their skills. The students can gain competencies in the following fields:

  • Management and innovation,
  • International finance and trade,
  • Markets and communication as well as
  • German business.

Goals and Career Prospects

"International Management Studies in the Baltic Sea Region (BMS)", as an international 4-year degree course, provides students with:

  • profound international management competence
  • language skills (English and 1 language spoken in the Baltic Sea Region, e.g. Norwegian, Polish, Russian and Swedish. Students from abroad learn German as a foreign language)
  • choices for specialization (Majors)
  • cross-cultural competence

Due to their comprehensive understanding of management gained on the course and comprising general aspects, fields of specialization and practical training, our graduates are well prepared for a variety of career opportunities. They are ready for a broad range of positions with a large degree of responsibility and demand the efficient handling of complex processes and the coordination of the work of teams. Our graduates work in the most diverse fields of international business, such as consulting firms, banks, freight forwarders, trade organizations etc.

The final degree of B.A. qualifies you for admission to master's programs.
