About

Set in the heart of the stunning English countryside, just a short shuttle ride from the historic city of Gloucester, Hartpury University is a small, close-knit community where students are supported to reach their full potential. We’re proud to be named Specialist University of the Year in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2026, recognising our outstanding teaching, facilities, and student experience.

Home to around 4,700 students from over 60 countries, Hartpury offers world-class degrees in agriculture, animal, business, equine, psychology, sport, and veterinary nursing.

Our beautiful 360-hectare campus provides incredible hands-on learning opportunities, from our cutting-edge sports academies, commercial farm, and world-renowned Rider Performance Centre to our walled animal garden home to over 70 species, including meerkats, wallabies, and llamas.

With small class sizes and a welcoming community, you’ll never feel lost in the crowd. We’re proud to be Gold-rated in all areas of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and ranked 6th in the UK for Academic Support (National Student Survey 2025).

Over 250 international athletes have developed their talents at Hartpury, with graduates going on to compete in the Olympics, Asian Games, Football World Cup, and Rugby World Cup. We’re passionate about developing confident, career-ready graduates; 95% of whom are in employment or further study within six months (Graduate Outcomes 2025). You’ll celebrate your success in the magnificent Gloucester Cathedral, famously featured in the Harry Potter films, the perfect setting to mark your own magical achievement.

I chose Hartpury without stepping foot on campus. The choice was easy for me as Hartpury had everything I could ever dream of, from the facilities to the class sizes. The fact that Hartpury is on the smaller side gave me confidence that I wouldn’t be a number to the lecturers. I knew that I’d get a world-class education alongside practical experience.

I chose to come to Hartpury University because I felt it would provide me with outstanding opportunities that I couldn’t have got anywhere else. Being here allowed me to combine university study and top-level riding, letting me continue my development as a top level rider and gain a valuable education. The best thing for me was being so close to everything that I needed to reach my potential as a rider and as a student. I was only ever a short walk from the stables, the arenas and the chance to ride. It was also fantastic being surrounded by students from all over the world and having the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds. That is something that I’ll never forget.

The environment at Hartpury made me want to work hard and learn more. It gives you a great degree but also really values your development as a student athlete. It’s somewhere that you get noticed and I’m lucky enough to have been picked up by a professional club. The relationships you have with everyone makes you feel at ease and gives you confidence in everything that you take on. Coming from a different country, you’re always worried about the change of culture but I was welcomed in with open arms. Coming to England and joining the ‘Hartpury team’ was one of the best decisions I ever made. I owe so much to Hartpury – I’ll never forget where I’ve come from, that’s for sure. The rugby at Hartpury is built around a winning culture and that really helped with the transition to professional sport.
