Introduction

The chemistry program at HSU offers students the opportunity to gain a broad-based foundation in the primary chemistry areas. Our professors provide training in the application of chemical and physical principles to other fields and introduce liberal arts students to a basic understanding of chemistry.

The Bachelor of Science degree is designed to prepare the student for teaching, industrial work, and graduate education.

We offer a Bachelor of Arts degree to prepare students for careers such as environmental protection, clinical chemistry, chemical patent law and other fields where extensive undergraduate training in chemistry is valuable.

We also offer a minor in chemistry designed for those students who wish to pursue careers such as environmental protection that require working knowledge of chemistry.
