Key Summary
Students who graduate with a degree in information systems have a valuable skill set that combines computer programming, applied computer science, and business. Some examples of jobs enjoyed by folks with this degree include information systems manager, IT consultant, systems analyst, database administrator. Students graduating with this degree find themselves fitting just as comfortably in a board room as they do in the back office. This degree has another advantage in that it flows seamlessly into HSU’s MBA program.
As with our other computing degrees, our goal is that every student graduates as a skilled, independent problem-solver with broad, relevant “hard” skills accompanied by valuable “soft” skills. To this end, our courses combine theory and practice in the context of the broader university mission of providing an education enlightened by Christian faith and values.

Computer and information systems managers often called information technology (IT) managers or IT project managers, plan, coordinate, and direct computer-related activities in an organization. They help determine the information technology goals of an organization and are responsible for implementing computer systems to meet those goals.
Outcomes
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (April 2018), the median annual wage for computer and information systems managers with 5 years of experience is $139,220. Database administrators report a median income of $87,020. The same source indicates that employment of computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations.
