Key Summary
About: The Bachelor in Computer Science at Harbour.Space at UTCC is a three-year programme teaching software development, object-oriented programming (OOP), database engineering and courses like data mining. It builds real-world problem-solving skills across industry, government and graduate contexts and develops professional abilities for employment, ethical practice, teamwork, adaptability and lifelong learning. Students can obtain an accredited degree from the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) through Harbour.Space’s partnership and can study at campuses in Bangkok and Barcelona.
Career Outcomes: Graduates start as Junior Software Engineers, advance to Senior Software Engineer, Systems Architect, Director, Development and Chief Technology Officer.
Core computer science skills such as software development, object-oriented programming (OOP) and database engineering form the basis of the curriculum, with advanced exploratory courses such as data mining to follow. Throughout the three-year programme, students continuously acquire an understanding of real-world computing needs, as demonstrated by their ability to address technical issues involving computing problems encountered in industry, government and graduate programs.
The programme is geared towards developing students' professional skills for employment while enabling them to adapt to rapidly changing technology, work effectively, professionally and ethically, and engage in lifelong learning.
Partnership & Accreditation
Students enrolled in Bachelor's programmes at Harbour.Space University have the opportunity to receive an accredited degree from the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) in Bangkok, Thailand. They benefit from Harbour.Space University's long-term partnership with this reputable and dynamic university in Asia. Barcelona Campus Harbour.Space also has a campus in Barcelona; those who want to know more are invited to visit the profile.
Year 1 — Foundations
In the first year, students obtain the foundational knowledge in mathematics and the basics of programming upon which they will develop their understanding of programming and computer science in later years.
Courses include Combinatorics and Graphs (1–3), Foundations of Programming: C/C++, Calculus 1–3, Practical Unix, Linear Algebra 1–2, Algorithms and Data Structures 1–2, Object Oriented Programming: Python, Computer Organisation and Systems, Operating Systems, Capstone Project 1, and Seminars & Workshops 1.
Year 2 — Software Development & Applied Maths
Students study discrete mathematics alongside software development and programming languages, with practical coursework and projects.
Courses include Introduction to Probability, Introduction to Statistics, Java Programming, Foundations of Mathematical Logic, Functional Programming, Introduction to Optimisation, Machine Learning 1, Formal Language Theory, Compilers, Introduction to Computer Networking, Database Systems Principles, Computational Complexity Theory, Introduction to Cryptography, Extremal Problems, Web Applications, Capstone Project 2, and Seminars & Workshops 2.
Year 3 — Theory, Applications & Capstone
The final year focuses on key computer science subjects, including computational theory, cryptography, parallel computing, databases and compilers, with significant time dedicated to the Capstone project.
Courses include Information Theory, Software Engineering, Computational Geometry, Machine Learning 2, Parallel and Distributed Computing, Bioinformatics, Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Introduction to Robotics, Software Development Process, Computational Genomics, Mobile Application Development, Technical Project Management, Algorithms in Bioinformatics, Data Visualization, Software Testing, Verification and Validation, Leadership and Group Dynamics, Technical Writing & Documentation, Numerical Methods, Capstone Project 3, and Seminars & Workshops 3.
Harbour.Space@UTCC Institute offers various merit-based and need-based scholarships, ranging from 5% to 100% coverage, designed for talented students in technology, entrepreneurship, and design, specifically at their Bangkok (@UTCC) campus.
Key options include the Women in Tech Scholarship (up to 50%) and industry-partnered work-study programs.
Graduates typically enter the workforce as Junior Software Engineers, applying their computer science knowledge to practical problems on a development team. They progress to Software Engineer roles, taking responsibility for building efficient, high-quality software, and then to Senior Software Engineer, where they become experts in software engineering best practices and mentor junior colleagues.
More experienced graduates move into Systems Architect positions, designing the technical evolution of software products, or into Director of Development roles leading engineering teams and managing technical project delivery. At the most senior level, graduates can become Chief Technology Officer, a business leader responsible for orchestrating technology, information systems, technical operations and infrastructure across the organisation.
