Introduction

As a student on this course, you will have opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge required by people wishing to be employed in the Construction Industry, practical training in a craft workshop, study time for theory work that is organized through workbooks and with taught classroom sessions, individual tutorial support.

This full-time program is for those wishing to understand the construction industry, combined with practical skills, before taking up employment as a craftsperson in the industry. The program includes a Level 1 qualification in an appropriate craft discipline. Every full-time course will include a real experience of work. Maths and English form part of this course and will be assessed at the relevant levels.

You will be assessed continually throughout the year on practical work by observation and building a portfolio of evidence and by synoptic assessment at the end of the year. Theory work is assessed in both Construction and Key Skills by using multiple-choice exams throughout the year and at the end of the year. You will also undertake a core assignment, which is assessed throughout the year.
