Introduction
The course is classroom-based (taught sessions and workshops). Electronic learning resources are encouraged, e.g., the AAT's website learning resources and those available via the college's virtual learning environment (VLE). The qualification will require a home study.
You will study the following subjects: Drafting financial statements; Budgeting; Financial Performance; Internal Control and Accounting Systems; Credit Management and Debt Control; Taxation (Personal Tax or Business Tax may be offered).
All units include a computer-based assessment or project, and these are held at the college.
Satisfactory completion of this qualification and meeting other conditions may lead to membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians and enable such successful applicants to use the letters MAAT after their name. For those who wish to proceed, exemptions are available from the first year of professional accountancy qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA, ACA).
