Key Summary
Interdisciplinary know-how for efficient information systems in companies
IT managers in companies are faced with the challenge of planning, developing and analyzing information systems that help achieve strategic corporate goals. These IT systems focus not only on shared data use, but also on user orientation.
In order to achieve this, in addition to sound technical know-how in software development, business intelligence and analytical IT, organizational, legal and social skills are also required. This combination of knowledge is taught in the Master's degree in Information Engineering and Management (IEM), which opens up opportunities for advancement to responsible positions in IT management.
Important facts
Graduates of this master's program are ideally qualified for management positions in IT departments or with IT solution and outsourcing providers. For example, they work as Chief Information Officer (CIO), IT manager/consultant and business intelligence project manager. The tasks include, on the one hand, analyzing the market for software, hardware or external services in order to identify potential for the company, and, on the other hand, identifying those areas in the company that can contribute to achieving goals through IT support.
