It trains researchers, teachers and professionals who have cities as their object of study and are able to respond to the challenges that the area of architecture and urbanism faces nowadays. The program pursues the articulation of theory and practice in architecture and urbanism, also drawing on the expertise of related disciplines to find innovative and technological solutions to contemporary problems.

The program concentrates on Territorial Impacts and the City, a field that views original territory as an important factor constituting the cultural dimension of the Brazilian city. It covers studies related to the interventions in cities that had their urban design determined by port activities, by historical and geographical conditions of the existing landscape, and by strategies of urban management.
