Key Summary

About : The Master in Society, Communication and Media (SCM) focuses on the relationship between society and communication. This program delves into the role media plays in shaping cultural narratives and public discourse. Students will gain insights into contemporary communication practices and develop critical thinking skills essential for media analysis in a globalized world.
Career Outcomes : Graduates can pursue various career paths, including roles as communication specialists, media analysts, public relations practitioners, or social media managers. Opportunities also exist in academia, research, and in organizations focused on communication and media studies.

In a rapidly evolving media environment, marked by changing communication technologies, shifting public discourse, and complex social dynamics, the program offers essential insights into how media shapes—and is shaped by—society. We emphasise the development of your critical thinking and practical skills in the field of empirical research. On the one hand, the curriculum is oriented on sociological and media theory and on the other hand, it provides knowledge and skills in the field of empirical research methodology, using both quantitative and qualitative analytical research methods, applicable to both mainstream and social media.

The program offers an extensive range of courses, covering areas such as digital media, political communication, cultural studies and discourse analysis on the media side, as well as social theory, civil society, globalisation, anthropology of social media, and ethnography on the sociological side.
