What is Chemical Engineering?
Chemical Engineering involves the development of sustainable and safe Processes to convert raw materials into value-added products. In a word, “Transformation”! Thus, a Chemical Engineer is devoted to the design, development, sizing, improvement, application, and operation of Processes (chemical, physical, or biological) that allow the desired Products to be obtained.
Who should apply?
Applicants with a background in Chemical Engineering and related fields, who wish to acquire advanced training in the areas of Process & Product, Energy, Biotechnology, and Environment.
Generic Objectives
The main objective of the Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering (M.EQ) is to train professionals in the field of Chemical Engineering or related areas with the highest quality standard, having in mind professional careers in the context of either industrial practice or research activities, among many others.
Emphasizing a practical engineering culture together with project activity, the syllabus offers students the possibility of acquiring specific competencies in one of the following areas (specializations): i) Processes and Products; ii) Energy; iii) Biotechnology; iv) Environment.

Program Outcome
The Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering intends to empower students with the following competencies:
- To understand the nature and dimension of manufacturing industries related to Chemical Engineering.
- The ability to apply physical, chemical, and biological concepts in analysis processes.
- The ability to systematically organize information and solve fundamental and complex problems in Chemical Engineering and related areas.
- The ability to use the available methods for the conception, design, implementation, and operation of systems in industrial and social contexts, with all the inherent implications.

In the areas of potential intervention in industry, the activity of a Chemical Engineer may occur both at the level of support to the industrial operation, including monitoring and process control, as well as at the level of production management, including operation programming and quality control, and also at the level of industrial management, design, and innovation.
