Key Summary
About: The Doctoral Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP) trains researchers in methods, research design and execution while upholding quality, rigour and academic integrity. It builds skills in industrial engineering, operations and management research, innovation and technology transfer. FEUP is a large, internationally oriented faculty in the Porto Innovation District with ties to industry, entrepreneurship and research centres, offering close collaboration with industry.
Career Outcomes: Graduates can pursue academic teaching and research, or industry roles such as consultancy; business analysis; R&D management; business development management; project management including international career opportunities.
The Doctoral Programme in Industrial Engineering and Management is designed to enable students to acquire and develop a range of skills, abilities and research methodologies, and to develop the capacity to design, plan, adapt and conduct in-depth research while adhering to standards of quality, rigour and academic integrity. This will enable them to undertake innovative research in the field of industrial engineering and management.
This study cycle aims to provide students with the necessary skills to:
- Develop new methods and techniques for decision-making processes that meet the current and future needs of organisations;
- Adapt existing industrial engineering and management methods and techniques to solve new problems in new organisational contexts;
- Undertake comparative studies of industrial engineering and management methods and techniques and measure their impact on organisations.
Teaching in higher education institutions; research career in higher education and scientific research institutions; consultancy; business analysis; R&D management; business development management; project management.
