Introduction

The MESMOG course is a course of 2nd cycle of studies leading to master's degree in nursing Maternal Obstetrics and Gynecology, comprises a total of 120 credits and a normal duration of four semesters of student work, fulfilling the provisions of decree- Law # 74/2006 of 24 March and the directive No. 2005/36 / EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 September and transposed into Portuguese law by Law 9/2009 of 4 March.

The established structure ensures a solid and broad education in science of nursing, as well as in specific areas of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Gives the Postgraduate Specialization in Maternal Health Nursing and Midwifery as the order nº13717 / 2012 of 23 October. 120 credits are distributed by the different scientific areas: Advanced Nursing Maternal Obstetrics and Gynecology I - 8 credits compulsory; Management and Administration - 5 compulsory credits, Women's Health Promotion - 5 compulsory credits, Nursing Research - 5 compulsory credits, Personal Communication and Interpersonal - 5 compulsory credits, Cultural Anthropology - 3 credits required; Maternal Health Nursing Obstetrics and Gynecology II - 12 compulsory credits; Preparation for Childbirth and Nursing for Parenting - 2 compulsory credits; Neonatology nursing - 2 compulsory credits and the courses Clinical Practice I, II and IV, with 5 core credits each; Clinical Education III - Option - 5 elective credits in three alternative areas: nursing Neonatology, Neonatal Transport and Intensive Care Neonatal Nursing, Clinical Teaching V - 10 compulsory credits and Clinical Education VI - 15 compulsory credits. The course's final report has 15 compulsory credits.
