Key Summary
About: ESDI, affiliated with Ramon Llull University, brings 35 years of design training. This Master's programme trains designers, artists and professionals in traditional methods and generative AI (text, image, video, audio, interactive). Two tracks—professional and creative—use practice-led research to develop applied projects with technical criteria, critical thinking and an ethical approach.
Career Outcomes: The programme equips you to enter design, communication and cultural industries with specialized profile in AI-integrated creative processes. Typical roles include several creative director for AI projects, prompt designer, data visualization and generative media specialist, audiovisual designer, innovation manager, AI-assisted workflows consultant, and teaching and applied research.
This cutting-edge program trains designers, artists, and related professionals at the intersection of traditional methodologies and generative AI technologies (text, image, video, audio, and interactive elements). The program offers two complementary tracks—professional and creative—to tailor the experience to your goals.
Through practice-led research, you will develop applied projects with technical criteria, critical thinking and an ethical approach, understanding the role of AI in contemporary creative industries.
The Master's in Design and Content Creation with AI at ESDI consists of 60 ECTS credits and is structured in 6 modules:
Fundamentals of AI and Machine Learning.
Conceptual basis for understanding how models work (with a focus on generative models), their capabilities and limitations; vocabulary and frameworks for making informed decisions.
Prompt Engineering.
Strategies for designing and optimizing prompts in LLMs and related models, maximizing accuracy, creativity, and utility in text, code, analysis, and problem-solving tasks.
AI-Assisted Multimedia Production.
AI-powered image, video, and audio workflow: asset generation, editing, and post-production using leading tools (e.g., RunwayML, DaVinci Resolve with AI, Unreal Engine), with a critical look at potential and limitations.
Innovation and Sustainability in the Digital Creative Economy.
Ethical-legal and strategic framework: intellectual property, copyright, data governance and responsible leadership in teams implementing AI.
Workshop on Projects in Generative Media.
Master's pillar: from idea to functional prototype. Problem/opportunity definition, technology selection, planning, production and presentation of an original AI project.
Optional Subjects according to Itinerary:
Digital fabrication and biodesign. Data sculpture. AI-assisted interactive and web design. Creative writing and storytelling with AI.
Methodology
Research in this Master's program is conceived as practice-led research. It is not merely research about design, but rather an inquiry that generates knowledge from creative practice itself. This approach aligns with design research methodologies that emphasize the creation of artifacts as a legitimate form of knowledge production.
The methodology of study, research and production ensures that graduates of this Master's program are not only technically competent creators, but also critical thinkers and rigorous researchers, capable of contributing significantly to the future of creative industries in a world increasingly shaped by the consubstantiality of the subject with technology.
