ESDI Higher School of Design

Introduction

ESDI Higher School of Design

ESDI is a university school of design, affiliated with the Ramon Llull University, with 35 years of experience training designers.

The ESDI Higher School of Design was founded in 1989 as an initiative of the Textile Design Foundation FUNDIT, and thanks to the support of government agencies (Ministry of Industry and the Generalitat de Catalunya, among others), and more than 90 business groups and significant companies in the textile sector.

The creation of this school aimed to bring competitiveness to the Catalan business fabric and to respond to the needs of society and industry, in a territory with a strong textile tradition. Its mission is to support and motivate industry through design and innovation, with an international vocation but with a territorial balance, providing the necessary educational tools to train people capable of redesigning and transforming the world.

ESDI is located in the former Docks of Sabadell, large warehouses where the textile raw materials of the companies of the Manufacturers’ Guild were deposited. The set of industrial buildings that make up ESDI has a total of 18,000 m², where the university campus is located, with large workshops and classrooms that allow multidisciplinary work with all the tools available in the same building, as well as an Innovation Center that aims to be the meeting point and interrelation between designers and start-ups at national and international level.

All this deep relationship with the industry is the raison d’être of the school and a fundamental pillar of its educational model.

ESDI, A TALENT FACTORY.
