Introduction
The Marine Officers (IM) are eminently operational, destined to plan and execute the amphibious operations that are part of the typical military actions of the Navy, leading the corresponding IM personnel units. Said operations include the conquest and seizure of the beach sectors required for the landing of military troops, the defense of the coast, the tasks of own military security, and the participation in Peace Operations abroad, as part of the United Nations forces. United (UN).
Upon graduation from the Naval School, having completed the Instructional Cruise aboard the School Ship βEsmeraldaβ and completed the period of applied professional training, IM Officers serve in their first years as commanders of small infantry and combat engineering units. , armored reconnaissance units, tactical command units (Special Forces), and integrating the endowments of field or coastal artillery batteries.
At the end of this period, the Officers complete their higher studies at the Naval Polytechnic Academy, where they obtain their specialization in Amphibious Systems. After a period of performance as Specialist Officers (between 3 and 5 years), they carry out different post-specialty courses, being in a position to lead fundamental units, such as Rifle Companies, Artillery or Missile Batteries, Commando Companies and integrating Major Planes. of Command Posts in the functions of Intelligence, Logistics, Communications or Operations Officer.
According to the needs of the Navy, IM Officers can subspecialize or obtain qualified skills in IM Commands, Military Parachuting, Artillery, Sniper - Scout, Commander of Armored and Reconnaissance Units, Communications, or War Material.
Over the course of their careers, Marine Corps Officers, who also access the General Staff Course, exercise command of IM Detachments, Amphibious Assault Forces, Special Forces Units or are members of the General Staff advisory groups.
The Marine Corps Officers can reach the rank of Rear Admiral and belong to the Institutional High Command as General Commander of the Marine Corps or occupying another position designated by the Commander-in-Chief.
