The Master's Degree in Nursing in Child Health and Pediatrics at Escola Superior de Enfermagem de Coimbra , currently regulated by Order No. 3035/2018, of March 23, seeks to pursue the essential objectives of higher education policy, giving them the necessary skills to enable them to lifelong learning and the acquisition of knowledge and skills aimed at professional performance and development, particularly the competencies defined for nurses specialized in child and young adult nursing defined by the Nurses' Order and included in Regulation no. 123 / 2011, Regulation of Specific Skills of Nursing Specialist in Child and Youth Health Nursing.

The study plan takes into account the social, cultural and educational context, the education and health policy aimed at child and family care, the demographic and epidemiological trends in the same field, as well as the current conceptions about child care. specialized nursing to the child, from birth to late adolescence, and his family. Its design intends to comply with DL 115/2013 of the processes related to new study cycles - norms of the processes referring to new cycles of studies.

The curriculum organization seeks to respond to the principles underlying the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS).

It is intended that the skills to be developed by the trainees contemplate, in addition to technical and scientific knowledge, those related to the relational domain, which is considered essential in nursing care delivery.

The Master's Course in Nursing of Children's Health and Pediatrics in its educational component, in addition to aiming at performance and professional development, seeks to pursue the essential objectives of higher education policy by providing skills that enable them to learn throughout the life and knowledge and understanding skills for: problem solving in new and / or complex situations, in broad and multidisciplinary contexts; the development of solutions and the issuing of judgments, including reflections on their ethical and social implications; and the communication of conclusions in a clear and unambiguous manner.
