Introduction

The department of Mathematics was founded as a major, independent unit within the Faculty of Science in 2004. The department was reformed in 2007. Since then it has had six subunits, Theory of Algebra and Number, Geometry, Theory of Calculus and Functions, Topology, Mathematical Logic and Foundations of Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Computer Science and steadily improved in the areas of academics and education.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

It is only possible to recognize formal prior learning of transfer students from different universities under the coordination of the “Adaptation Commission” according to the relevant regulations set by The Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The Bachelors Degree is awarded to the students who have: successfully passed all courses in the curriculum within 8 semesters, maintained a minimum C.P.G.A. of 2.00 / 4.00 and no failing grades. Students must attend classes, practical and laboratory sessions, and examinations. Students attendance is tracked by the instructor concerned. In order to be eligible to take final examinations, students must attend at least 70% of theoretical lectures and 80% of practical sessions. Insufficient attendance for any reason disqualifies students from taking the final examinations.

The program aims to donate students with skills to develop knowledge in designing, implementing and analyzing results of systems/processes; and skills either to perform their profession or to continue their studies at post-graduate programs.
