Introduction
The course is at a postgraduate level and is compulsory for third-cycle courses and study programs.
After completing the course, the doctoral students shall have the ability to explain and compare various qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method designs in research studies; summarise fundamental aspects of writing in various scientific styles.
After completion of the course, the doctoral students shall have the ability to prepare and argue for relevant strategies based on different trends in research design; build an opinion on different implications and possible applications of the concepts of validity, reliability, and generalisability in research design; apply principles for the structural organization of a scientific text.
After completing the course, the doctoral students shall have the ability to evaluate scientific quality based on the design of different research studies; critically investigate scientific texts with a view to forming, structural organization, and normativity.
The subjects covered by the course are as follows: the significance of research design within different research traditions; different research designs concerning research studies' demand for validity, reliability, and generalisability; critical investigation of scientific texts concerning form and contents; practical work on the student's own choice of research issues concerning the design of research study.
