EIT offers flexible online study worldwide and on-campus in Australia, serves students from 160+ countries globally. Certification requires 65% attendance at fortnightly webinars (or notes), 60% in assignments and 100% on quizzes; resubmissions are allowed.
Career Outcomes: Prepares you for cell and UI development, device and hardware, protection, network and structure, and data analytics across smart manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare.
Career opportunities: IoT developer; embedded systems engineer; hardware engineer; network/security specialist; data analyst.
The Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) is the most sought-after technology trend in the current situation. This course enables participants to understand the basics of IoT, its protocols, and its application areas. IoT has been applied in different domains like agriculture, space, healthcare, manufacturing, construction, water, mining, etc.
Certification
To obtain a certificate of completion for EIT’s Professional Certificate of Competency course, students must achieve a 65% attendance rate at the live, online fortnightly webinars. Detailed summaries or notes can be submitted instead of attendance. In addition, students must obtain a mark of 60% in the set assignments which could take the form of written assignments and practical assignments. Students must also obtain a mark of 100% on quizzes. If a student does not achieve the required score, they will be allowed to resubmit the assignment to obtain the required score.
IoT provides advanced data collection, connectivity, and analysis of information collected by computers everywhere – taking the concepts of machine-to-machine communication farther than ever before. The growing need for pervasive connectivity, storage, and computation has resulted in the growth of different IoT solutions. Therefore, learning the fundamentals of this emerging technology is very important. IoT is already a critical part of Industry 4.0 and hence the participants must be able to understand other technologies that can be integrated along with it, to improve application efficiency. Proactiveness and creativity are the key attitudes expected from the participants. This course would equip the participants with a solid theoretical foundation and strong practical skills in the IoT Platform and System Design. The course is divided into twelve modules and will start with simple examples and integrate the techniques using which participants can design and build an actual IoT system. The participants are expected to actively engage in discussions and work innovatively on assignments. Course Benefits

Our Virtual Open Week is our biggest live and online event yet. A range of sessions will be presented (and recorded) across multiple days during the week of Monday the 12th of October 2026.
You are expected to spend approximately 5-8 hours per week learning the course content. This includes attending fortnightly webinars that run for about 90 minutes to facilitate class discussion and allow you to ask questions. This program has a 65% attendance requirement in the live webinars to graduate from the program. If you are unable to attend the live webinars, you have the option of watching the recording of completed webinars and sending a summary of what you have learnt from the webinar to the Learning Support officer. The summaries go towards your attendance requirement for the program.
This program is run online on an intensive part-time basis and has been designed to fit around full-time work. It will take three months to complete.
We understand that sometimes work commitments and personal circumstances can get in the way of your studies, so if at any point you feel that you are struggling with the pace of the course or finding a particular module challenging, you are encouraged to contact your designated Learning Support Officer for assistance.
