Introduction

The MA course offered by the Institute of Philosophy at the Faculty of Humanities is a two-year, full-time program comprising four semesters. Students need to have some philosophical background – a minimum of 30 credits as part of their BA studies. Students will have the opportunity to draw up their study and research program under the supervision of a supervisor of their studies (in most cases different from their thesis supervisor). The aim of this setup is to give flexibility, and at the same time guidance so that students gain a thorough coverage and a sound grounding in the major fields of philosophy. At the same time, students are required to engage in research either in some areas of the history of philosophy or in some field of systematic philosophy. These studies lead up to the MA thesis project.
