Durham University, established by royal charter in 1837 and tracing its origins back to 1832, is England’s third-oldest university located in the historic city of Durham in North East England. Its campus is partly a UNESCO World Heritage site, centered around Durham Castle and Cathedral on Palace Green. The university features a mix of medieval and modern architecture, including the award-winning Lower Mountjoy Teaching and Learning Centre. With over 22,000 students and more than 4,300 staff, Durham is organized into 27 academic departments within four faculties, supported by a distinctive collegiate system of 17 colleges.
