Introduction
Modern business software produces mountains of data; it is up to the professional to examine it and draw meaningful conclusions. This entirely online and self-paced program is designed for business professionals who wish to understand the fundamentals of quantitative analysis so that they can convert trends in their data into thoughtful business decisions.
Students who complete the Data Analytics Certificate are awarded a total of 3 CEUs, 25 PDUs, 30 HRCI credits, and 30 SHRM PDCs. Students have one year in which to complete all of the coursework, beginning on the date they are emailed the course access.

Curriculum
The Certificate in Data Analytics provides an overview of topics in statistics and their applications in a variety of fields. It discusses the basics of quantitative analysis and its increasing use in today’s professional landscape. Students will learn quantitative decision-making tools and techniques, that tie into real-world case studies. Course videos and lessons focus on the use of both Microsoft Excel and OpenOffice. The entire program takes approximately 30 hours to complete. Duke collaborates with MindEdge to provide this online, entirely self-paced program.
This program provides the following six courses:
- Introduction to Data Analysis
- Statistics as a Managerial Tool
- Tools of Data Analysis
- Statistical Process Control
- Data Analysis for Improving Organizational Performance
- Data Analysis in the Real World
The Data Analysis program is self-paced and can be conveniently accessed anytime and anywhere from a computer with an internet connection. Courses are engaging and include videos, interactive exercises, games, assessments, and real-world case studies. An "Ask the Expert" feature allows you to pose course-related questions and receive feedback within three business days. This program does not require any additional purchases of supplementary materials.
Quizzes and Testing
There are tests throughout the program. Each course contains exercises and scenarios for students to answer and self-assess their learning. Students are required to complete all content elements in each course and earn at least a 70% average test score to earn their certificate and receive their CEU and PDU credits. Students will have three attempts at all graded tests.
As a non-credit program, students earn a complete/incomplete status. Letter grades are not issued, nor recorded by Duke Continuing Studies.
