Introduction

Even though the Thai tourism industry has been impacted in recent years by numerous problems, including political unrest and natural disaster, tourism continues to be a robust and major part of Thailand’s economy. Indeed, instead of viewing these negative conditions as obstacles they can be seen as an opportunity for those wishing to work in the sector to participate in the rebuilding and restoration of the tourism industry in Thailand. Moreover, the formation of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2015 will create more potential for the tourism industry in the region to flourish and become more attractive for international visitors.

In light of the current situation and following the university’s philosophy β€œPutting knowledge into practice”, the ITMA curriculum is designed to first acquaint students with theories related to tourism and hospitality management and then give practical training with both in-class activities and out-of-class hands-on experiences. This symmetrical combination of knowledge and practical experience will surely prepare our graduates to succeed in their goals.
